Chip McDonald
In an attempt to make a non-negative non-political music oriented post: "You got one of them foot-feets?" (translation: "Double bass pedal") "Does that guitar come with pickup-chips?" (translation: "picks") "I want one of them Ziggens" (translation: "Zildjian cymbal") "How many felts on that guitar there?" (translation: "frets") "Credit check?" (translation: "I'd like to rent a band instrument but I'm broke") "Do you have Poovey amplifiers?" (translation: "Peavey") "I want my money back, these broke" (translation: the guitar strings have been used) "I need new wires for my geetar" (translation: "I need a new set of strings for my instrument") "Do these cost money?" (translation: "Do I have to pay for these guitar picks?") My favorite, happened about a year ago: "You mean, you have to PAY for guitar lessons????" I kid you not.... ------------------ New and Improved Music Soon: http://www.mp3.com/chipmcdonald Guitar Lessons in Augusta Georgia: www.chipmcdonald.com Eccentric blog: https://chipmcdonaldblog.blogspot.com/ / "big ass windbag" - Bruce Swedien

gtrmac
Best one I got was for a DAT tape with the lead vocal on the left and Stimpy on the right. We figured that they wanted SMPTE Time Code once we stopped laughing. Of course we really wanted to give them the lead vocal performed by Ren with a little Stimpy doing backups on the right. ------------------ Mac Bowne G-Clef Acoustics Ltd. Tedster
Reminds me of a time some folks came into the music store where I worked years ago...these folks were American, but raised primarily with another language, and they were looking at an amp with "bass, middle, treble" controls and saying "What ees meedlay?" (middle)...I just thought it was kinda comical...but at least these guys had the courtesy to ask, which is why salespeople are there in the first place. What kills me is like you say, Chip, the people who act like they know what they're talking about but obviously don't. And then they'll say something like "I've been playing 20 years and my band backed up Santana"...like...right. Sure. Then they plug in and try to play a "Wildwood Flower/Enter Sandman" medley. Sui
Sounds like some of the talk in Randy's Music Mart in Amarillo TX, or Buddy's Music in Tuscaloosa, AL. Not exactly the same lingo, but not so one would really notice. Funny!! "Don't say I didn't warn ya.." www.mp3.com/adamkittle

Mats Olsson.
I worked in a camera store 25 years ago. Strange & funny things happened daily. Like for example when a person handed me a Polaroid camera and asked me to put in a new roll of film and send the old one to the lab... I asked him how he used the camera, he said that it was just point and click - it must have worked every time becase the camera always printed a reciept... I almost started laughing but tried to stay cool and wondered where those "reciepts" was now? -I throw them away, I need no reciepts, just them pictures from the lab. Or the episode when a person came in with an electronic flash and asked to get the film developed... /Mats http://www.lexam.net/peter/carnut/man.gif What do we want? Procrastination! When do we want it? Later!
Trash Monkey
Chip, don't worry, you can hear the same thing in Macon too. My current favorite is when I have certain acts in the studio "Imo sang the hook", meaning chorus.

Here's a parting shot: I walk in the store about a week ago and there's all this talk about a getting a Seymour Duncan INIQUITY pickup..... "Uhmmm... That'd be ANTIQUITY, guys..."... ------------------ New and Improved Music Soon: http://www.mp3.com/chipmcdonald Guitar Lessons in Augusta Georgia: www.chipmcdonald.com Eccentric blog: https://chipmcdonaldblog.blogspot.com/ / "big ass windbag" - Bruce Swedien
