Well, that's the problem. It's not simple to reproduce old school sounds. If you want a synth that can reproduce a piano, b3, clav, old analogs, dx7ish sounds.. it ain't going to be simple. What exactly do you need?

Korg Kronos X73 / ARP Odyssey / Motif ES Rack / Roland D-05 / JP-08 / SE-05 / Jupiter Xm / Novation Mininova / NL2X / Waldorf Pulse II

MBP-LOGIC

American Deluxe P-Bass, Yamaha RBX760

I'd add to that, since this is such a wide open question, something like

Roland XP-80, 60, or Fantom

Korg Triton, Triton Pro or Pro X

Kurzweil 2500 or 2600

The Rolands and Triton are great because they have expansion boards that have vintage sounds. Especially Roland, which has some of the best sounds in the biz outside of a sound company. They have the Vintage Synth board and the Keyboards of the 60s and 70s. Put those in a Roland and you almost have an arsenal. And their workstations have fantastic sequencers. The Triton has a huge cool sequencer too, and a number of stereo effects available at once.

This keyboard solo has obviously been tampered with!
