dejon
I find when trying out new synchs, if I'm playing myself I can' t judge the way it sounds as well as I can as when I listen to someone else playing. Is this I good way to make a good judgement?
Stephen Fortner
Heck... do both. If you can find a music retailer where they have the patience to let you take a couple of keyboards into the high-end room (you know, the one with the door that closes where they have Pro Tools set up and stuff), and listen to 'em equalized for volume through nice monitors. Bypass the effects, and A-B sounds from one synth to the other in the categories you're most interested in. I've often found that I'm hyper-critical of keyboards when I'm playing them. When I later hear a recording of the gig or session, or go to see a band where the keyboardist is playing the same stuff as I use, I often go "hey, that sounds pretty good."
