dejon
Would the Studio Electronics SE-1 be a better buy than the Minimoog Voyager ? I like the sound of the original Minimoog but I don' t like that you can' t store patches . Which one would be more versatile sound wise, Voyager or SE-1 as far as specs would show ? Bucktunes
For specs and playability, I'd say the Voyager will ace the SE-1, since the SE-1 is an old Mini that's been rack mounted and hot-rodded a bit. But again, the sound will be the deal maker or breaker. Peace all, Steve ><> Steve

I've played it recently and I really like it, but it's a VA with a eurodance/techno/trance vibe. No disrespect to Mr. Moog, but this still seems like vaporware. Two Namm shows and all they show is what it looks like? Seems like marketing screwed up (my experience as a design engineer), poor communication between marketing and design, or poor planning from the design group (bring back memories... management:'you mean it takes 2 years to design this? Do it in 9 months, press release goes out tomorrow, you better be on time) OK, someone wake me up from engineering nightmare. Ok, bad analogy since they are a small outfit. At the end it's the sound, isn't it? But to have a synth that doesn't store patches is way too archaic for me. marino
There's an old thread that I started when I had the chance to get an SE-1; Dave convinced a very knowledgeable friend of his, who had owned both, to post his impressions (Thanks again, Dave). Well, he said that the SE-1 did NOT sound that close to a Mini, more like a Prophet... So I didn't get it in the end. I can't wait to put my hands on a Voyager.
