analogman1
Hi foax, Any news on when/where this keyboard will be available?? It seems to fit the bill exactly as for what I'm looking for. Tom Bitondo Tom Nord Electro 5D, Modal Cobalt 8, Yamaha upright piano, numerous plug-ins...

Jeep
I dunno. I think any machine, in order to do what this keyboard is trying to do, successfully, would have to have 88 keys and some honest-to-God drawbars.

Very few Rhodes had 88 keys, the standard Rhodes had 73. The Elektro does have drawbars, but they work differently than on a typical B3 clone. The Nord version might even be better, since when you change patches, the new drawbar settings are instantly displayed. It's like having "virtual motorized drawbars". It would only need 88 keys if it were trying to emulate an acoustic piano, which it's not. coyote
Nord might do well to market a module version. Their demos sound good. Originally posted by guestuser@guestuser.com: Why? Yes, and I think this keyboard version will do well too - it appears to have a lot going for it. I just hope they made the velocity-switching nice and subtle, or "heavy on the sublety", as my friend Wayne used to say. If the Rhodes sounds good and doesn't have rude velo-switching I think I'll buy one, since I was almost ready to buy a Korg CX3 anyway, and this appears to be pretty good in the B3 department. I really like the fact that the 73-key version only weighs about 22 lbs!
Stephen Fortner
Just talked to Sweetwater AND West L.A. Music and the imorter in Florida still has no idea when they'll be seeing any Electros. According to their web site, they have shipped a few of them, but they are a small company, so it will probably take them a while before they can get a large quantity of them shipped out to the world. It's not fair to compare their production capacity to Roland or Korg.
Stephen Fortner
I stand corrected. I also heard some MP3 demos of the Electro's sounds (www.clavia.se) that weren't on the website a few days ago, so perhaps things are picking up. As far as I could tell given the limitations of MP3, I liked the sounds a lot. The grand piano was even nice.
