GL1
I always wanted to be in a band called Free Beer. Put that on the Marquis, and great attendance would be guaranteed. My reason for posting is to find a decent publisher. I have well over 30 Copyrighted songs and no one to listen to them. Admittedly, some are better than others, and my recording techniques are improving (which means the quality of the older ones is "suspect") I'm sure some of you are affiliated with a "Pub"..... Neutron
I was in a band called Free Beer back in '91. About 15% of the potential audience members were dissapointed enough at the door to go somewhere else instead. The remaining 85% rocked! Don't know about good publishers, though. Sorry... GL1
Thanx for you response Richie. The closest thing to being in a band called Free Beer, I ever did, was put a picture of a Marquis in our promo package. Picture this...... "Smokehouse" Sunday Buffet Jokingly, we said we had opened up "For many well known artists, including Jimmy Buffets cousin" http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/tongue.gif Shoot.... I'ld almost settle for a suckie publisher. Get this...... I know, not one, but TWO published artists. They ain't sharing their Publishers. One can't play one single instrument.....writes lyrics and sings, tho. The other..... Can't sing or write lyrics... and is barely adequite at playing the acoustic guitar. Not to sound antagonistic.... but if you had visited my music site you'ld have seen I "do it all".... in many styles. I'm about ready to put that new Marshall mic on "hold" and open my purse to PAY for some of those e-zines that have the listings. Ahhhhhh.... I feel soooooo much better now. Offen dah rant. http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/tongue.gif Michael Campbell Ax/Va/USA This message has been edited by GL1 on 08-13-2001 at 01:12 PM Go ahead....listen at your own risk http://mahotmagumbo.iuma.com
jackass
I'm curious. What the hell do you think a publisher is going to do for you? In case you are not aware, publishers don't do much except administer the legal stuff when a real artist cuts one of your songs. a good publisher will actually take great music and help it along the path to a real artist, but those types of publishers don't even talk to people with 30 songs. For that matter, a lot of good publishers won't even talk to you unless you've ALREADY had a real artist cut one of your songs. Maybe you're confusing a publisher with a record label. It sounds like you think of yourself as a performer/songwriter. That's much more in line with what a record label would be looking for. Why don't you just start your own publishing company? Then if you ever do anything to make some money on one of your songs, it will all be your's and you won't have to split it with anybody. just a thought.
