superphat
hello all. any advice would be greatly appreciated! i have a roland mks30, and occasionally all the audio outs (L/R and headphones) will crap out. everything else works fine, midi is going, but 10-15 minutes after powering up, audio will just disappear, sometimes replaced by lots of noise. if i turn it off and on again, 1 out of 4 times, it'll work again (for a few minutes). i know this could probably be a lot of different things, but maybe someone could point me in the right direction? i'm thinking maybe a bad VCA? thanks! please please help!!! -paul
Guest
Paul - More likely its a loose connection. (Roland tends to mount connectors right to their PC boards, which is cheap to build but doesn't hold up to use well). If you're tech-oriented, open it up and take a look at the soldering on the output jacks. - Philbo
superphat
actually i was eager to open it up, and although i don't have an EE degree or anything, i'm not too bad with the basics http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/smile.gif in any case, i ruled out the loose connections because it happens simultaneously to all the outs (Left/Right/Headphones). yeah, you're right, the jacks are soldered on... everything seems pretty solid though (for something made in the 80s!) thanks for your input~ -paul
