Addix Metzatricity Posted May 21, 2003 Posted May 21, 2003 Ok... This is hardly official, but how many of you fine folk use AOL Instant Messenger? I use Yahoo and ICQ too, but AIM is the only one I can get through my firewall at work. Oh... in case anyone's interested, I'm BassGuy21. flyscots Posted May 21, 2003 Posted May 21, 2003 Yep, good idea. I use AOL IM and Yahoo Messenger. My screen-name is flyscots37 for both
fantasticsound Posted May 21, 2003 Posted May 21, 2003 AOL IM is fine, but I rarely log on to AOL, so I'd have to be contacted here or by email to ensure I have AIM active. It's easiest to find me on Facebook. Neil Bergman Soundclick fntstcsnd
Addix Metzatricity Posted May 21, 2003 Author Posted May 21, 2003 Well, that's kinda silly. "Bass isn't just for breakfast anymore..." http://www.mp3.com/Addix_Metzatricity
Brakka Posted May 21, 2003 Posted May 21, 2003 That's silly? I was thinking about communication too, but I figured I'd do exactly what fs said: musicplayer PM's and emails. I was also thinking that I might have a thread here at Collab Corner for my team. Hopefully no one outside the team would post in it, but anyone would be able to read it. My new webspace has a forum option, and also a chat room option. I'm researching those. There are three kinds of chat rooms available to me: CGI, Php, and Java. Php would probably use the least resources.
Addix Metzatricity Posted May 21, 2003 Author Posted May 21, 2003 Eh... it was just an idea. The silly part was that he'd have to be contacted here first, which would negate the need for an alternate mode of communication. Brakka Posted May 21, 2003 Posted May 21, 2003 YEE-HAW!! I got my communication problem solved- I have my own forum! The forum for my fantasy team is a private room, so no one can see it yet. There is an "Open Mic" there though, feel free to check it out and even register at http://www.brakka.com/forum/ http://www.brakka.com/forum/templates/subSilver/images/logo_phpBB.gif
Addix Metzatricity Posted May 21, 2003 Author Posted May 21, 2003 Damnit... I was gonna be the first to post there.. But, nOOOOOOO... they have to send an activiation key... blah blah. I registered anyway. "Bass isn't just for breakfast anymore..." http://www.mp3.com/Addix_Metzatricity
Sylver Posted May 22, 2003 Posted May 22, 2003 Hey Brakka, who you hosting with? What kinda of deal is it? Give us details! You got signed up pretty fast! I really don't know what to put here.
Brakka Posted May 22, 2003 Posted May 22, 2003 Sylver: Jeff started a thread over at SSS saying he found the "cheapest hosting service." I figured if it was good enough for him, it's good enough for me. It's called HASweb. I chose the "standard" service, which is $20 a year, 200 MB Web Space, 4GB Bandwith, Unlimited POP Email Accounts, Unlimited FTP Accounts, forums, chat rooms, etc etc. I also paid $15 to register www.brakka.com. This is my first site, other than when I had an apple iDisc site back when they were free. I can't vouch for HASweb, but so far (2 days) everything seems pretty cool. Tech support is very limited, but I'm learning what I need to learn.
Sylver Posted May 22, 2003 Posted May 22, 2003 Nevermind, I figured out myself be re-reading Jeff's thread. Thanks for the info Brak! I might sign up too, that's a really great deal. I''ll thank Jeff again too. I really don't know what to put here.

flyscots Posted May 22, 2003 Posted May 22, 2003 Must admit I'm like Neil. I do have these Instant Message thingy's but I'm rarely signed on. I use them mainly to keep in touch with my family back in Scotland. There would be nothing wrong with a team posting here to arrange an IM chat conference or whatever its called. That way everyone knows when to sign on to their AOL (or whatever) service. See, not so silly after all!
Addix Metzatricity Posted May 22, 2003 Author Posted May 22, 2003 Well, no... Not when you put it that way... But why wouldn't you want to be silly? "Bass isn't just for breakfast anymore..." http://www.mp3.com/Addix_Metzatricity
flyscots Posted May 22, 2003 Posted May 22, 2003 Oh dont you worry, I sure as hell hope the song my/our team puts together is VERY silly!

Addix Metzatricity Posted May 22, 2003 Author Posted May 22, 2003 Did. I like 'em, but words aren't my thing. I need to actually 'hear' em. Right now it's just poetry to me. Very sad poetry though. I do like it. Really. "Bass isn't just for breakfast anymore..." http://www.mp3.com/Addix_Metzatricity

"I'm With You" by Avril, "Don't Let Me Get You" by Pink, and other negative songs.... it's a trend. Wait till you hear the vocals, they will be interesting to say the least. Might not be tonight that I get a chance to record, although, I need to take advantage of kids being gone. Right now I'm jacking around with Norton Antivirus and those jacked-up emails. NAV didn't detect a virus, but encountered an internal error......... grrrrrrr.... I hate having to mess with this stuff when my plans are music. Addix Metzatricity Posted May 22, 2003 Author Posted May 22, 2003 Oh, no... Don't lose the inspiration because of some stupid program. When I lose mine, it's gone forever. Joachim P. Dyndale Posted May 22, 2003 Posted May 22, 2003 Well, I use MSN Messenger... But it seems like nobody else here is doing so. Might be best to use this forum or e-mail then. I'm still figuring things out over there, any help is appreciated. _______________ href="http://www.brakka.com/music"> http://www.brakka.com/images/menu/music_lg.gif ______________ Like that, right? The only program I have for html is Netscape. I told it to put the pic there, that's the code it gave me. I can easily put in the "border=0". Why does it need it? What happened to you when you tried to view it? It works fine without it for me, as do other pages I've done that don't have the border thingy. I've also got this problem with Netscape changing "http" to "imhttp." Working on that one... I'm still learning here, I didn't even mean to post that link to get traffic. I've only got those pages up so I can figure out how to do things. Thanks for your help.
Wewus432 Posted May 23, 2003 Posted May 23, 2003 I think my team will try e-mails, and PM's, and a thread on this forum and see how that works. I'm not real fond of Instant Messaging.
