DR-880 Please Help

Just bought a DR-880. Manual really sucks. All I want to do is copy a preset pattern into a user pattern and put in my own bass part. I figured out how to copy the preset pattern but I can't figure out how to edit the bass. I can get into edit mode but when I try to change the note, nothing happens. Maybe you can't change the bass part??

 

Hope some one can help me out.

If I were you, I'd call Roland. If you ASK for someone that knows how to use the DR880, you should be able to get some help. Too bad about the manual. I have a Roland R70 drum machine and the manual is excellent. That really surprised my when I bought this 12 years ago. I've been considering the DR880 as an update for my R70 but it doesn't sound very appealing when the manual is poorly written and you can't get it to do simple tasks.

I have a 770 and just love it. I probably can't speak to the manual issue since I had a 550 for several years first and they are very similar. I haven't even opened the manual on the 770 yet. I have to believe that someone at Roland can help. It's in their best interest to provde support. Good luck, Dave Morehouse.

I just bought the Roland Fantom XR sound module and the manual is horrible. It's like the dude that created and or programmed the unit only needed cliff notes to how everything works and he felt we only needed that too. I called Roland and they said that they would train me step by step over the phone on how to use it.
