bc_dup1
Hi guys, I'm a bassist who'd like to work on my drum awareness by programming and playing along with a drum machine. I play in a trip hop/electronica band and the drummer plays an electronic kit, although I have a fair bit of experience of more traditional rock/funk etc with an acoustic drummer, and I'm sure I'll play with acoustic drummers in the future. I've been "transcribing" drum parts off records, but I also think it'd help to get some written material showing typical drum patterns used in different styles of music with maybe some references to particular artists or songs for illustration. Any suggestions about the best place to find stuff?
Jeebus
You might want to try asking in the keyboard forum. Many people over there have experience with drum machines & sequencers, so you'll probably get more responses over there. good luck
Jazzman
Modern Drummer has some drum pattens within the books. Look in the back of drummer books and you will find that there are tapes and drum books available to purchase. I think "Soundsations " in Michigan may have some drum pattern books. Also look at: www.interstatemusic.com Section titled,"Programming/Electronics/Recording" They show at least 8 pattern books to purchase. Hope this helps you out.
