SoundWrangler
(the original, famous version from the movie soundtrack...) This guy was GOOD - check out the "cool attitude" fill that leads into the 1st bridge, & all those hipster offbeat shots that follow. Who WAS that guy? djarrett
I believe that the song was recorded in 1962-63 and written by Henry Mancini. And I am pretty sure that the drummer extraodinaire was, Shelly Manne. DJ
SoundWrangler
Thanx DJ - from the sound & style, that seems credible. If there are any published credits available re: the players on Mancini's recording dates during that period, I've never seen them! So, to your knowledge, was Shelly Manne one of Hank's "go-to" guys? djarrett
I did a search on Mancini and all the albums that I could find that showed credits had him using Shelly. Must have been his serious "go to" as you put it. DJ
Tedly Nightshade
So Shelly is the Manne- I got some listening to do! Mancini is a name that will endure... A WOP BOP A LU BOP, A LOP BAM BOOM!
