djarrett
I am constantly poked fun at ... due to the faces I make when playing.I am told that sometimes I look like I am in anguish when playing.Do any of you other drummers make these "drum-faces" when playing? Brenton Trott
Yeah, that moment when you spot someone in the crowd that you know and they smile at you and you smile back and then slip back into drumface. I love seeing a drummer who is so into it that he is pulling faces. Cheers Brenton

AlanThomas
The king of "drum face" has to be comedian/actor Charlie Callas. Charlie's career in entertainment began as a Big Band and Jazz drummer and, if I remember correctly, got going in comedy due to the hilarious faces he would make behind the kit... charliecallas.com Signatures can appear at the bottom of your posts. Lee Flier
Our drummer cracks me up. About half the time he's the picture of poise and class behind the kit, then he'll suddenly erupt into some wild Keith Moon fill and he gets major drum face! The contrast makes it even funnier than if he had drum face all the time.
george costanza
Indeed, this could be called "Keith Moon Syndrome"! An example>
Bunny Knutson
Drum-face, guitar-face, sex-face. They are all very close relatives!!! https://bunny.bandcamp.com/ https://theystolemycrayon.bandcamp.com/

joeq
I close my eyes when I play and then blink them open when I crash the cymbals. I guess I am giving myself a Light Show, but I am told it looks perfectly ridiculous to everyone else.
flyscots
A Drummer is just not the same without a "Drum Face!" Hell, apparently I even have an "Engineer Face" when I'm working, hopefully followed by my "Enigineer Smile" when it all goes well! Jazzman
If you think a "Drum Face" is odd looking........did you ever watch a violin player get into it?? Jazzman
musa
peace, art blakey's toungue was hanging out most of the times and still is elvin's!you're in good company man:-)i personally keep a still expression most of the times either with eyes shut or staring into a point in the search for higher concentration.but then, out of the blue, comes that spark of inspiration where your face reacts just like any other limb and everything can happen!i agree violin players really steal the show, tough, as do some woodwind/horn players. dayvel
When I'm really into it, my eyes roll back in my head. My bandmates refer to it as "going to drumland".
