Iaian
I am thinking about picking up the drums to further my rythmic range as a bass player. What would you suggest as a decent starting kit. I play mostly jazz and ska on bass, so I immagine that would be the style that I would play on the drums.thanksIaian San Andreas, The hope to save our nation by turning Las Vegas into a seaside community. TMWdrmr8
I'd say that if you're going to play jazz, Gretsch would be the way to go. However, depending on what you're willing to spend, you can find a decent set also in Pearl or Sonor.
djarrett
Used good quality will be your best bet. (I mean older used ... ala, Slingerland, Ludwig, Gretsch), however ... if you go with new, I would look at DW's economy line, Pacific drums or one of Yamaha's hip gig kits. Also, check out www.musicyo.com. Look at the Slingerland cocktail kit. It is a great value for the money.DJ
ehgee
Hey everyone...I'm also a newbie in playing the drums...I live in Push, Nevada and there aren't very many shops around this part of the state. I don't want to drive out to Vegas because its a 3 hr drive. I wasn't able to find the kinds of drum sets that ppl have listed so I was wondering if anybody knew of some others...Thanks!
