1958 WFL 3 piece kit?

I just purchased this on eBay and am wondering if anyone can tell me anything about it - such as, whether it's a good kit, collectable, if they all had brass badges, etc. The guy who's selling it didn't know much about it.

The bottom floor rim is with the kit.

you can find other pics here (these are from the auction, it's actually silver sparkle):

Wondercrush, I love those drums!

Yes, they are collectable and yes depending on what you spent, you probably got a good deal.

Are the shells cracked a any place?

Is the snare with the kit?

Most of these kits came with a metal snare, but occassionally you find one that had a matching wooden snare. (rare).

You can probably find the bottom hoop for the floortom (acurate for the period) , ... or resources for that at rebeats.com

Looks like a great kit.

From what the guy could tell me, they are in good condition other than the sparkle being faded. He described them as gold sparkle but if you look at the picture of the badge, it's definitely silver.

So, IYO, these are good drums?

I don't know if you remember and I'm sure you don't but I'm the one with the early 70's WMP Slingerland concert tom kit and I just needed a different sound. Keeping the Slingerlands though!

Thanks for the reply

Hey, Wondercrush:

Yes, these were good drums. They actually are Gold Sparkle (from what I can tell) that has faded) The old Gold Sparkle was more washed out than todays sparkles.

It had Nitro Cellulose as a covering (highly flammable) that is suseptable to fading and peeling.

I like these drums. Have you bought them yet, or just pondering the idea?
