captain54
I know this topic has been covered a ton, but I've tried the usual tried and true methods to no avail. Just purchased a new Gretsch catalina elite kit (fusion), and right out of the box, the small 10x8 tom is causing the snare to buzz like crazy... I've scanned the search engine and the Drum Tuning Bible, and there are a lot of good suggestions.... I understand it could just be a different tuning of either drum that could eliminate my problem.. Before I do that, however, I know I would like replace the stock Gretsch heads... anyone with any experience with Gretsch, old and new, and some head suggestions?? captain54
yes it does... I'm going to try detuning the four lugs closest to the snares today and see what happens....
captain54
djarrett and P.Sound...thanks for the help.. I've finally managed to conquer the snare buzz problem....installed a Fibreskyn head, tightened the snares and top and bottom heads pretty tight and its pretty much gone... the other side of it is that my snare has kind of a hollow ring to it...a nice sharp crack, but nontetheless, and very pronounced ring, that might be desirable for some, but it's not the sound I'm looking for.. Is muffling the answer?? If so, can anyone recommend a good muffling system??
