Head types for jazz

I use the Aquarian Textured Coated drumheads for jazz (as well as other styles). Aquarian also makes several Vintage series drumheads, as well as a Jack DeJohnette signature series drumhead that you might want to check out. Their web site is http://aquariandrumheads.com .

The DeJohnette heads are textured coated with a black coating rather than white. This black coating makes the drum sound darker, yet has a very round, full sound. Sounds awesome with brushes too!

Aquarians texture coating will last you a long, long time. It doesn't deteriorate like the REMO heads. I can easily say that Aquarian heads last six times longer ... if not more.

Thanks for the input folks, I was out of town for a while, and wanted to answer this thread. Unfortunately, I do have the REMO heads on all of the drums except for the snare. I have a textured head on that drum. The REMO heads don't really appeal to me for studio Jazz work. Bartman, thanks for the link, I also checked out your WEB site... very impressive.

Thanks again and keep the faith.........
