I'm not a drummer, but I have a drum module that has drum triggers and a friend who is a good drummer. Rather than pay for a lot of studio time I'm thinking to record him with the "electric kit". I think one of my friends a while ago had some limited success with those things. You could probably rent a ddrum kit or the like from S.I.R. right there in NY for the day and come out way cheaper in time in the long run.
