coyote
I recently saw a performance where the 'drummer' used a device called the Zen Drum which I suppose is a MIDI trigger. Where can I find out about it? I used to think I was Libertarian. Until I saw their platform; now I know I'm no more Libertarian than I am RepubliCrat or neoCON or Liberal or Socialist. This ain't no track meet; this is football.

djarrett
Hey, Chris: Welcome to Drum Talk. Your name is very familiar to me. Have you been involved in the industry? DJ
coyote
Now why didn't I think of that? LOL Truth is I rely too much on search engines - put the phrase "zen drum" in there and the zendrum site does not appear! Oh well.... Thanks for your reply! cgdehaasaol.com
Hi DJ, I've been working on MIDI Drum controllers and audio FX for the past 20 years or so. I met Victor and Roy 'Future Man' Wooten during the summer of 1987 when I was playing bass and guitar in a show at Busch Gardens theme park in Williamsburg, VA. Victor introduced me to Roy and I had just graduated from college with a degree in Electrical Engineering with an interest in electronic musical equipment (my senior project was a drum machine!) I offered to help Roy with some ideas he had for custom MIDI drum controllers and I've been working with him ever since. He thanked me for my efforts on all the Flecktones CD's (maybe that's where you've seen my name before) and some magazine interviews. I'm still working with him and David Haney and Kim Daniel (the founders of Zendrum) on some other MIDI controllers. Check out Roy's site www.evolutiondamour.com for info on the Royel project which uses a custom instrument we built. Hope that info helps!
