I'm crazy about it! felix's band
Lee Flier
Felix, The song "Copperhead Road" was originally on Steve Earle's album of the same title, released in 1988. I agree it is KILLER, I love the whole album. The drummer is an L.A. dude calling himself Custer. I first heard him when I was living in L.A. and he was in a band called Little America around the same time as Copperhead Road came out. Little America were all right, but I thought they were worth seeing mainly because of him! Custer has appeared on a lot of Steve Earle's other stuff too. He's awesome... BIIIIG sound! --Lee This message has been edited by Lee Flier on 04-03-2001 at 05:00 PM

Lee Flier
Well, now felix bringing up "Copperhead Road" made me pull it out and put it on... so Custer's drumming on that record makes my top 5 for the day! Also: Stan Lynch (big surprise http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/biggrin.gif) on Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers' "Hard Promises" - several of their old records have been remastered recently including this one, so I picked 'em up and they sound great! David Wright on the Flamin' Groovies "Shake Some Action" - MAN is this a great pure rock'n'roll record, if you've never heard it. Love the drums on it big time! Mason Brazelle, bangin the crap out of the drums on the Young Antiques "Wardrobe for a Jet Weekend". The Young Antiques are a local Atlanta band, kinda in the 80's postpunk tradition like the Replacements, Husker Du, Elvis Costello, that kinda thing with a little Steve Earle vibe thrown in there too. Really intelligent songwriting performed excellently, and Mason's a great drummer. I think you can hear some samples and buy their CD from CDBaby.com . So that is some great drumming that I've heard today! --Lee
Uh Clem
Just working on wiring and listening to Robin Trower on MP3.COM - no CDs tonight, but Robin's cooking with gas - Reg Isadore on drums. fet
Alvin Stoller or Irv Cottler on late 50s/early 60s Sinatra; big-band plus string section. Great rhythmic drive, ppp to fff dynamics, total sensitivity to the singer's phrasing. Every drummer should hear this stuff, IMHO.
sbrock1san.rr.com
stevepow- I saw Robin Trower last year and his drummer was one of the best I've ever seen. I suppose it was Reg Isadore. What a powerful guy. I have Steve Hackett-Watcher of the Skies in my CD player. It has Bill Bruford, Chester Thompson, and Hugo Degenhardt on drums. felix stein
Jory Vinnecour "House Concert Memoirs" Jory plays the French double manual harpsichord in this one. It is truly amazing the counterpoint he pulls off (actually Ramaus' and Bach's) and the different emotions that one can invoke thru all the elements of music. And this will point will bring me to my other post. felix's band

djarrett
It is really soulful, funky front porch music. Even has some cool mandolin and fiddle stuff. Not Country in any way I would consider it, although he does have a great video running on CMT right now. You would not be disappointed if you like greazy! I am not sure if you can find samples online ... I have not looked. DJ

And I would imagine if she were my sister, she'd find mine boring http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/wink.gif. Which song was it, do you know? We like to keep track of those sorts of things... Unfortunately, I haven't actually seen Dave play drums since the Nirvana days (when Mtv was still playing music videos!). I know he was great to watch then! ------------------ Jen H.
