rooster6550
Just came back to N.D. from a quick trip to Chicago with the girlfriend. Her mom lives just off Cicero. . .Also on Cicero is BassClub Chicago. . . Nice stuffffff. . .Not a huge inventory, but I got to try more cool stuff in two hours than I've tried since who knows when. . .Fodera, Sadowsky, Tobias, Zon, Spector, Lakand, (et. al.) basses on hand, plus Accu-Groove, Aguilar, Schroeder, Basson, (et. al.) amps and cabs, etc., etc., etc. I'm still trippin'. . . Although It'll be a while before I own a Fodera, at least I got my picture taken with one. . . Might buy a Schroeder cab (12-10) from him. Mark (think that was his name) was really cool. . . Wow. . .Made up for the lame King Tut exhibit at the Field Museum. Just had to share. Anybody here (on the LD) do business there before? Curious. . . zeronyne
Some Chicago Talkbassers had a big get together there recently, I think. I've been meaning to get there, but the hours are a bit strange. I've heard nothing but good comments about the owner. "For instance" is not proof. SteveC
I just couldn't do a trip like that. It'd be like an alcoholic going to a wine tasting or something. I can't imagine the GAS I'd have. Sounds like fun though.
rooster6550
Zeronyne, you nailed it on the head -- their hours are practically bizarre. Four to seven one day, eleven to six another day, closed Monday, etc. But, what they don't have in quantity, they make up for in quality, most definitely, IMO. Just a cool place to hang out, and nobody that comes there *doesn't* speak "Bass". . . And, yeah, Steve, it was like an alcoholic going to a wine tasting. Another guy and his friend walked in while I was there (they were also out-of-towners). The guy plays the Fodera, a Sadowsky and a $5K (or so) Tobias. His friend looks at him and says, "Damn, man, you got a champagne taste on a Kool-Aid budget". . .
