owens hound
I've been working on writing out some charts and scales in chords, notes and in numbers and came up with this question. If I'm playing the C (3rd fret) on the A string a 1 and then play the G (3rd fret) on the E string, which would be the lower 5th, how would I write this out in numbers? eg: I///|5///|b7///|I///| the 5 and the b7 would be lower then the 1. Thanks, Jason www.myspace.com/nobandatpresent
Phil W
Numbers in this way would normally be chords rather than notes. A V(5) chord (or the root of it) could be played in any octave. If you want to specify the actual notes, you need to use standard notation. http://philwbass.com
owens hound
Awesome, thanks Phil! I had been practicing scales and have started playing the lower notes in addition to the 1-8 notes and was confused on how to write this. Standard notation makes perfect sense. Thanks again, Jason www.myspace.com/nobandatpresent
