She is 8 mo. old and plays the congas too! ;) No matter how many toys she has on the floor at her disposal, she always goes right to an instrument.

Thanks for all the compliments. I know she is beautiful.

Bassadik - I feel for you. I am sure this is a tough time for you but also a proud time. As my journey with my daughter has just begun, I look forward to the relationship we will develop. Funny thing is, I wanted a boy so badly that I used to tell people that I either was having a boy, or I had a boy for nine months. When she came out a girl, I could only thank God that she was a girl and I would now have it no other way. There is nothing cooler than a girl bass player. I think we have a good start here. Whenever I play or she hears music she instantly lights up and starts to bop up and down. She's got groove in her soul.

Yo Groovehead!

Congrats on your new child. I see her bass-holding technique is ready--she looks poised to lay down some baad funk riffs--now buy her a bass which fits those cute little hands!

Enjoy her--they grow up fast. Mine did, and now her two little darlin's are growing up too fast themselves...

Congratulations!!

As stated above - They grow up WAY too fast: don't miss a moment!!

Mine graduated Kindergarten just a year ago...

...last week she graduated 8th grade and starts High School next Fall.

...at least, that's how it feels!

I'm sure she'll be in-and-out of college before it seems like tomorrow!!

Enjoy!!

Bassaddic,

hang in there man, she is leaving for all the right reasons, and she will make you even more proud in the future. It wont be easy for either of you, being apart from each other. I'm sure you will talk lots and meet often :thu:

Groovehead,

Not only is your daughter totally adorable, but that picture is fantastically cute!!!

I hope it's ok, but I saved it and printed it and put it in my music room! I can't help but get tickled every time I see it.

And I love threads where our forum members get so sweet and philosophical and share their feelings!!!

This world is a good place... and your little daughter is going to make it even better! (One bass note at at time!) ;)

Thanks so much for sharing your fun photo!

She's playing a "B" on the G string while muting the adjacent D string with her left hand, and palm-muting the two lower strings with her right hand - EXCEPTIONAL TECHNIQUE!! :)

She is gorgeous - congrats!!

Bubba upright- First, congratulations to you. Secondly, yes, she is our first. The current debate between mysekf and my wife, is whether we should have another or stop while we are ahead. I see no reason to try again when we have a;ready achieved perfection ;):D . My wife on the other hand insists that Chloe needs a sibling. I guess I will have to get to a less slfish stag in my life before I am ready for that. Besides, I having so much fun with her. I cant imagine splitting my time.

Connie Z - Of course it is ok that you printed it and put it up in your music room. I am honored that someone would do that. Perhaps it will inspire you to write a lullaby.

KAD - I working on technique first. I will have to wait for her talk before we can start on theory. That way she can say verbally express her confusion.

Man, you rule! I giggled when I saw that pic. All that has been said I would just repeat but, I'm gonna do it anyway...enjoy these next few years. Take a mental picture of each moment that pulls at you. Someone told me that when my oldest daughter was born (she is now 11 and we added another sister for her 2 years after her birth) and it is important to keep a mental scrapbook of every little moment your given. And believe me, they are given to you...each moment is a gift from god. :thu:

Groovehead--

My wife and I had a similar dilemna (sp?) Our first is a great kid and we were afraid that we wouldn't be so lucky the second time around. Also, because our child has a very good disposition and good manners, we were afraid that if the second child didn't share those qualities, that we wouldn't be able to maintain the facade of being great parents! :D My wife is also afraid of having a "favorite" like she does with our dogs. I'm convinced, though, that another child will be a great thing. Best wishes to you and yours.
