The first bass I bought new was a Musician, a fretless model (940). A very nice bass, kind of heavy to wear for long sets, but played and sounded sweet. Active circuit with many possibilities. Mine was a later model than '81 though.

I still regret selling it...

If it's truly mint, $400 seems like the high end of fair, but then I am comparing in the US market.

If it were me I would likely check it out.

Play it to be sure, and decide for yourself. Let us know what you think.

Good luck!

Peace,

I'm a lot more like I am now than I was when I got here.

I have 2 Roadstar II's from '85, and they are noticeably different from the Musician style, as are the Roadstars I have seen.

I do know that Ibanez did a p/u redesign on their instruments in that era.

The earlier Musician was most seen in Sting's hands, an '80 or '81 IIRC, and my later model had different controls and pickups. The bassists from Toto and Spandau Ballet also played the Musician, at least in videos.

or possibly this-

for visual input.

The pics at that link are of an even later model than the one I had, and lacks the active tone controls of the earlier models.

Mine looked like this-

Hope this helps...
