bassdrummer
Humor me on this one: if a band was a car, what part of the car would each player be? Have fun! Mr. Phil
Drummer - Engine (Necessary to go) Bass Player - Transmission (keeps the drummer in line) Guitar Player - Exhaust (cleans things up?) Vocals - Interior (Nice extra to have) this is dumb. http://www.briantimpe.com/images/LDL/dots/blue.JPGhttp://www.briantimpe.com/images/LDL/dots/black.JPGhttp://www.briantimpe.com/images/LDL/dots/fuscia.JPGhttp://www.briantimpe.com/images/LDL/dots/grey.JPGhttp://www.briantimpe.com/images/LDL/dots/orange.JPGhttp://www.briantimpe.com/images/LDL/dots/purple.JPGhttp://www.briantimpe.com/images/LDL/dots/red.JPGhttp://www.briantimpe.com/images/LDL/dots/yellow.JPG
bassdrummer
Other ideas: The car: Steering wheel? Gas/brake pedals? Paint job? Wheels? Body? Headlights? Seats? (Or maybe you're thinking of a different vehicle!) The band: Keyboards? Rhythm guitar? Soundman? Auxiliary percussion? Horns? And that could get more specific, too . . . Backup vocals? BigKahuna855
bassist: steering wheel(keeps the music going where it needs to go, but isnt always thought about) guitar player: roof(usualy needed, sometimes you want to take it off, and thinks it is above everything else ) drummer: wheels(cant go anywhere without em) Vocals: engine(if you have one, its probably needed for your band to be "your band". and it sucks if it quits on you) "I'm thinkin' we should let bump answer this one... Prepare to don Nomex!" -social critic "When I install my cannons, I'm totally going to blast their asses back to the 16th century; Black Beard style" -bumpcity
getz out
I'll disagree: Guitarist - pimpin' rims, since they are the flashy hardware Vocals - steering wheel, since average people usually identify with the vocals in a band, seems like an obvious choice Drums - engine, since it's very mechanical keeps a beat Bass - catalytic converter, since most people have no idea what it does, but it's pretty important to have one or you won't pass inspection Keyboardist - spoiler, nice feature, but usually just for show

Mr M Pulsive
I see it more as this: Bass = Electrical Wiring Harness: quite often overlooked, but essential part, the "nerve center." Keeps all other parts functioning in proper time and sequence. No moving parts . Drums = Engine: powerhouse - provides energy/drive/motion/rhythm. In most cases, would not function properly without the electrical harness. Guitars = Drive train: translates energy into motion, variable speeds, expensive to replace. Most people don't see a car without a tranny/drive shaft/transfer case as much of a car at all, it won't go anywhere. Vox = Exhaust system: lots of hot air & "garbage" coming out of there, you can have a car without exhaust pipes, but it's not always appealing to onlookers. It's no secret that a fine tuned exhaust system can do wonders for an auto's appeal. purrrrrrrrrrr. Additionally, some of the "garbage" can be filtered out by the catalytic converter (vocal effects) but not all. Keys = here's your leather interior, digital guages, On-star: Not required in most situations, but hard to pass up if done right. Adds that extra special sparkle to the right car. Not necessary for a no-frills powerhouse Hot Rod (metal.) Idunno... ...simply stating.

JazzBassMan
Drums - engine Bass - transmission and wheels, translating power from the engine to make the whole thing go. Guitar - Body... flushes out the form. (Alternate: Car Horn - only one volume and often too loud.) Vocals - Dash... tells you what's going on. Tom Capasso
Drivetrain (engine, transmission, wheels): The bass, drums, and rhythm guitar. On some models, the keyboard is part of this. Body: lead guitar (not really required, but lends "color", style, and theme) Interior: horns (not really required, but would you drive without one?) I guess I have a more cohesive view of bands than some of you..... Tom www.stoneflyrocks.com Acoustic Color Be practical as well as generous in your ideals. Wally Malone
It seems to me the bass would be a fender. Wally I have basses to play, places to be and good music to make!
jimbojones
Metallica would be a hummer, and celine dion would be a razor scooter. Ha ha ha. Nicklab
Drums - The engine & the wheels to keep things rolling Bass - The chassis, holding it all together Guitar - The windows & headlights, the stuff that people primarily perceive Keys - The body, fleshing things out Vocals - The steering wheel, guiding the emotions Obligatory Social Media Link "My concern is, and I have to, uh, check with my accountant, that this might bump me into a higher, uh, tax..." jeremy c
The band leader would be the engine. The singers are the brakes. The guitarist is the exhaust pipe. The keboard player is the upholstery. The horn players are hood ornaments. And me, the bass player, would be pushing the whole damn thing down the road. Free download of my cd!.
