Mudbass
Ric Fierabracci is his name and he's a monster, ain't he. Last I heard he was using Pedulla basses, Bag End cabs, a Crown K2 and an Alembic pre.
jeremy c
he used to play pretty often at the Baked Potato in the San Fernando Valley (Los Angeles). jeremy c
Would you turn down the gig if it were offered to you? One of my friends is currently playing with Kitaro, best gig he's ever had. Free download of my cd!.
Mudbass
I'd never paid much attention to Yani until my father, of all people, turned me on to the Acropolis CD. I'm still not much of a Yani fan, but I was impressed enough that I bought the CD because it's an outstanding orchestral performance with incredible individual efforts from Fierabracci and violinist Karen Briggs. Honestly, I can't see how any musician worth the title could listen to the Acropolis CD and fail to appreciate the level of musicianship and professionalism involved even if he didn't like the music. tarsia
Hey, a little "Low Down" on Yanni, He was in a New wave / glamor type band in the Minneaoplis/St. Paul Area in the early 80's called "Chameleon", his drummer for that band (charlie adams) was also the drummer at the acropolis show - do a search I believe the drummer has a website with some old pic's etc... pretty funny, I saw them when I was a teenager ! BenLoy
I'm not a fan of Yanni's music, but I can't say I'd turn down a gig with him if he were foolish enough to offer it to me. "Suuuurrre...I can sight-read your stuff!"
sbrock1san.rr.com
I saw Rick Fierabracci (spelling ?) with the Frank Gambale Trio several weeks ago in a tiny club and it was one of the most impressive performances I've ever seen/heard. I talked to him for a couple of minutes between sets and he was also a very nice guy.
Mike H.
I'm not a Yanni fan either, but I did catch one of his live concerts on TV about 4 years ago. It's one of the more impressive things I've seen from a production standpoint. http://www.identity5.net
DarrellD
I saw Ric in Tucson Arizona where he was the "bass player" for Brian Bromberg, who mostly hung out on piccolo bass. Two monster bass players, no guitars. What a band!
