LiveMusic
Somewhere on here, somebody's talking about a Carvin StageMate Rechargeable PA. Sorry, again... gear dumb. Does this take the place of my guitar amplifier for my Taylor acoustic? It has four channels. Could I could plug my guitar, an electric fiddler and a mike for us both into this and it work? Would it drive my Yamaha keyboard? I don't know anything about electronics; how do I figure out if something if "big enough" to drive something? I mean, is it watts or what? What, exactly, does a PA system do? Does it just amplify and you just use it if your amp isn't enough? My guitar amplifier, does it just basically amplify sound? Can I run my mic into my Fender Acoustatonic and play my guitar and sing without feedback? Dumb questions, I'm sure. Seems I tried to mic this amp one time and finally gave up and ran the mic into another amp I have. > > > [ Live! ] < < <
Dak Lander
Yep! go here to Carvin StageMate . It's the battery operated unit and you can add an extension cab to it for more coverage. Also look at This Little Jewel . It's a really nice sounding little box and you can add an extension to it too. With it you're stuck to a power source though. LiveMusic
If you need a PA system but you need one for small gigs or parties indoors but also for sometimes where there is no power, could this StageMate be the ticket for both? Would you need a powered one at all? I mean, if this thing has decent battery life, it could be your one-for-all? And if anyone wants to answer any of those other questions in post #1, feel free! Thanks! Especially, if I can use this to drive my keyboard. My Yamaha PSR740 has onboard speakers but I'd need a PA system for anything but very quiet environments... not enough power. > > > [ Live! ] < < <
Dak Lander
Duke, The StageMate is good for vocals and acoustic guitar so it should do fine for your keyboad too. The battery life is 4 hours normal without an extension. That will cut the battery life in half. You can also get an additional battery and double the life. It's 100 watts so you could do a reasonable sized gig but it's NOT a replacement for a regular PA system. Where this things shines is outdoor events, picnics, street scenes & etc., where there is no power. Look on the site I posted above & download the manual. I'm sure there some other battery operated units out there but I've tried the StageMate out & it's pretty nice. Sounds fantastic !! Tom
Yeah Tom, Those things are really nice. It's amazing they're only rated at 100 watts. They sound more powerful, & especially for the physical size. I came a finger nail trimming away from buying one & still may, but I needed more inputs & power so I opted for the CX630. It's been great. I don't know how many people have come up & remarked on the quality of the sound Carvin stuff puts out. My next buy in that regard will be the StageMate because of the portability but I'm really hot for that AG1000 amp. What an outstanding unit!
