Bubbajazz
To all AW users - I was using the machine to work out some new part ideas - playing along with a previously recorded song. The AW has stopped responding to transport - the song is stopped, but won't rewind. I can't access Song mode, move to different markers, or anything involving the song itself. I can switch to other menus, but I can't access the regular shutdown, and am nervous about just re-booting. Any ideas? I want to turn off, but don't want to screw anything up further. BTW, when accessing non-transport operations involving memory or editing, I get a "recorder busy" message
Lee Flier
It's no problem just turning the machine off and back on. Of course, if you hadn't saved your latest work you'd lose it, but you said you weren't recording anyway, just playing along. You may want to optimize your songs and then back 'em up and do a disk defragment. Fragmentation can cause nasty things like that to happen. --Lee

Philip OKeefe
Great minds think alike. ;) This is nearly identical (in essence) to what I said over on Roger's forum. Howyabeendoin' Lee? Lee Flier
Heh... purty good Phil, been real busy like. Having fun checking out these ADAM's that Dave sent me! :) They ROCK! --Lee
Philip OKeefe
Hehehe - I THOUGHT you might like 'em! I just responded to your prelim. review over on David F's forum. Now you just have to figure out a way to PAY for them - and that's the hard part. Dan South
Interesting that the unit froze up. You may have pushed the transport buttons too fast. When you record something, you have to give the AW two or three seconds to organize the Undo/Redo data. When you see the Undo light come on, it's okay to proceed. Do you have the latest software updates? There was a bad release that froze when you used the jog/shuttle wheel. Do you have any gear connected via digital inputs? Perhaps a synchronization glitch brought the machine down. The Black Knight always triumphs!
Philip OKeefe
Excellent points Dan. The AW doesn't buffer your transport / "key' commands, so it is certainly possible to "outrun" the machine if you enter a bunch of rapiod fire commands ("button pushes")> Like Dan said, the "undo" light changes as soon as it's done processing... you can also watch the red "Hard Disk Busy" LED, and when it stops flashing, you're usually good to go. Bubbajazz
Sorry, folks - I have been out of the country, and internet deprived. Dan - my software release is 2.0. Is there a more current one? I do believe the original problem was the transport overrun. I think I might have hit 2 or 3 keys simultaneously while reaching across the machine. Regardless, thanks to all for your advice. Philip OKeefe
No problem... 2.0 is the latest AW4416 OS, but Yamaha is hard at work with Templates for controlling other hardware / software via MIDI CC... the 01V and 03R controller templates are up at www.AW4416.com, and templates for various DAW programs should be posted shortly.
