tenton
A friend mentioned that he's had a lot of trouble with noise in his guitar pick ups when he sits too close to a regular computer screen (CRT). Anyone else have this problem?

not coaster MODERATOR
My Apple Studio Monitor sends a buzz into my guitar too. At least I THINK it's the monitor. I never turn it off so I can't be sure. On my LCD (also in studio) I can turn it off and the buzz leaves right away.
bleen
Cereal, That's odd; when I moved from a Sony CRT to an Apple LCD, my guitar issues related to the monitor definitely disappeared. Now the problem is power supplies in the rack next to my computer....it never ends. strat0124
very common.....like mentioned here prior, flat screens will minimize it. Just turn the monitor off.....quick solution. Down like a dollar comin up against a yen, doin pretty good for the shape I'm in
Anderton
Make sure your pickups are perpendicular to the monitor. Sometimes just changing your position is enough. Better yet, set up key equivalent commands to do your recording, and TURN OFF the monitor while you record the guitar part. It's weird flying blind, but hey, we did it with tape recorders... tenton
Thanks for the feedback everyone. This helps. I can save a few pennies by not buying a flat screen display (even though it would be nice to have). Cheers! :D
