DC
Yeah, got a stack in the 'reading room' also another stack under the end table in the living room. I'm consumed with looking at stuff I can't afford. I think it all started back a hundred years ago with the Montgomery Ward Christmas catalog. There were all sorts of cool stuff in there and sometimes I'd actually get to see some of it on visiting 'rich' friends houses after X-mass. Most of my catalogs are music gear, but sometimes at a friend's house I'll find entirely different catalogs like model airplane building. Did you know they have plywood like 3/8" thick? You can use that in guitar building depending on your application. I've got AMS, Sweetwater, Musician's friend, Parts Express, MCM, Mouser, Elderly, BSW, even Zounds has started sending me one. I'm sure I've forgotten a few, but which ones do you get and cherish, even if it's not music related but cool? You know, sometimes I think it would be so great to be rich but I sort of understand how rich folks take everything for granted. If I could have everything I'd like to check out, I'd get bored really quickly. At least I've got loads of fodder for dreams as it is... -David http://www.garageband.com/artist/MichaelangelosMuse
Lee Knight
I play a game with my catologs. I'll randomly open a page and have to pick only one thing from those 2 pages. Sometimes it's a cool mic clip and sometimes is an 1176! Or I'll get to the page with pointed headed guitars and try to find an Artcore at least... ...it's fun. RABid
I regret throwing away the Musician's Friend catalogs from their start up days. Red Winger
The simple fact is, quality doesn't matter when it comes to gear porn. Give me quantity. I never even get tired of the stupid little circulars that come from GC. My wife tried to throw one out a while ago before I'd had a chance to look at it. We didn't speak for a month afterward. --Mark "I don't know anything about music. Bryson
I think I was about eight when I was looking at drumsets in Sears' catalog all of the time. Then at around ten I got hooked on Lafayette, Allied, Heathkit, Olsen, McGee, Radio Shack etc. catalogs, dreaming about the stereo system I was going to build. Sylver
Yeah, it seems they publish a new catalog about once a week. The worst thing is when they plaster "SALE!" all over the same old prices in every damn one. Shit, I knew all the prices last week better than my Sweetwater rep. But, I'm a geek. I really don't know what to put here.

RABid
My first drum set was a 5 piece silver flake set from Sears. With new heads the drums were OK but the cymbles sounded like garbage can lids. My first set was used, but came with new Sears cymbals, 12" hats, and a 16" ride. The ride got all caved in where I played it. I tried to rotate it but it kept going back to the same spot. Franky
I remember when I was little I used to get a catalog of catalogs in the mail. It was a catalog where you could order different catalogs from many different categories. I ordered a few catalogs from that when I was little. I bet you'd like one of those. I've found that lately I spend way too much time trying to decide what to order from electronics catalogs. There are just so many options! Like, should I order just one, or 10, 25, 200? Just so I can get a bulk discount! And there are so many companies to choose from. I've been wanting to buy some stuff from Small Bear Electronics. But I've been too indecivisive about what to get. I know I want some germanium transistors, enclosures, and footswitches. If anyone has any favorite parts from Small Bear Electronics let me know!
