wildplum
I have an Alesis HR-16 which I use solely for providing a click track while recording. However, the HR-16 has one problem I can't seem to get around. The click function always emphasizes the "one". This can throw the musicians off, especially if the pattern isn't regular (i.e., always repeating), but the beat is constant. Is there any way to get a click in which every beat is the same volume? BTW, i have Craig's HR-16 book and couldn't find anything on this in it. what are you all using to provide a click for recording (going both to tape and the players)? thanks. mwestenberg
Program a pattern with one of the built in sounds and make it the level you want. Lyrics. Wasted space between solos. I can't tell you, but I can play it for you.
offramp
Yeah...what he said. I never use the click on my HR-16...I always program a sound, one measure as a pattern, repeat. I've upped my standards; now, up yours.
blackpig
I just use one of the rhythm patterns on my Zoom multitracker. It's easier to record inexperienced musicians when they feel like the're playing along with a real drummer. At the end I just dump the drum track and the rest of the mix has a nice tight feel to it.
