Dak Lander
For those of you who are using Firefox on broadband, you can get some more speed. These tweaks are supposed to work with Mozilla too, and I would suppose then Netscape 'cause it's supposed to be the same source. Firefox does seem to be faster so I'm going to try the same tweaks on Mozilla. I got this from a link I found on the Mepis Lovers forum & thought I'd share. NOT FOR DIAL UP USERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! To start: Open Firefox. Type "about :config" in the address bar. Find these options, double click each one and change to below values: network.http.max-connections: 48 network.http.max-connections-per-server: 24 network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-proxy: 12 network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-server: 6 network.http.pipelining: true network.http.pipelining.maxrequests: 16 network.http.proxy.pipelining: true After changing the values just close Firefox and open it again. Some people told that these setting may hammer some servers. Changing the "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" to max of 8 will probably solve the problem.(above reduced to 16 from 32 already) Our Joint "When you come slam bang up against trouble, it never looks half as bad if you face up to it." theblue1
The about:config page would be a great resource -- if they would mark which param settings affect FF and which effect only the Mozilla browsers. One of the many odd oversights in the FF world. bookmark these: news.google.com | m-w dictionary | wikipedia encyclopedia | Columbia Encyclopedia TK Major / one blue nine | myspace.com/onebluenine

mdlestat
WOW!!! I've been looking for these tweaks (or at least expecting I'd run into them somewhere). There was a VERY significant decrease in page load times that I noticed immediately-- EXCELLENT stuff-- Thanks Dak It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it. --Aristotle

AudioMaverick
Dito... For some reason, Firfox has been stammering a bunch, lately. I think it started when I pulled version 0.9 and installed version 1.0. Not sure if that was it. But, these tweaks definitely helped out 3 of my home systems! These tweaks are a keeper. Dak Lander
Seems like an even bigger speed increase percentage in Mozilla so if you use that browser give the tweaks a shot too. Though I haven't been on Windows for a week or so I'll have to jump over there and reset Firefox and Mozilla over there too. Dave The Rave
How d'ya get FireFox to do "inline autocomplete" for URL's that you've found before? I see the drop-down window with the list of URL's, but I hate that - I want it inline. I can't find an option or switch for this anywhere. Anyone? :DTR Cambrian Guitars

Beermouse
Thanks, Dak! It's loading at least twice as quickly as before (now, the difference is almost negligible - something like 1 second to 0.5 seconds - but still, it's welcome!).
