In the mid 80's I was a stage hand for a band called "Errol Lee and the Bare Essentials". Here in NY in the early-mid 90's I worked as a FOH engineer for a sound company. We (I) did the annual West Indian parade (next monday!) a bunch of times. In my time, while working with one sound company or another, I've mixed monitors or FOR David Rudder Calypso Rose Traffik Estatik (Marlon and Sean used to, or still work with them) Sparrow Arrow Singing Sandra.... and from Jamaica, Fab Five and Byron Lee & the Dragonnaires Of all of these, David Rudder is my favorite. I especially like "A baccanal lady". The Bare Essentials used to "clash" with Byron Lee in Jamaica on occasion. I remember one serious jam at Port Royal, Jamaica...We each have our own stage, lights, PA, Byron Lee is providing the power (4 generators) We lost power from our generators three times, once during each of our three sets! I've also been to Trinidad many, many times. I was scheduled to be there this weekend with Supercat for two shows, but it fell thru.
