ABECK
I have a gaggle of Akai samples/programs for my S2800, some of which I'd like to convert to kurzweil format for my K2700. Would something like the Autosampler in Mainstage be able to record those samples and then convert to a format readable by Kurz? IT seems like Autosampler might be limited to when you want to use those samples only within mainstage.I believe ChickenSystems also has software that would do this, but the Mainstage route would be cheaper. ElmerJFudd
I know EXS24 can open Akai format directly inside of logic - so you don't need to autosample it in physically. Can someone share if there is a way to go EXS24 or Akai to Kurzweil? Perhaps with Chickensys? https://www.chickensys.com/index.html "Kurzweil K2000, K2500, K2600, or K2661 can open Akai S900, S1000, and S3000 series, Roland S700 series, and Ensoniq ASR series samplers via SCSI. Akai and Ensoniq files can also be imported via floppy. Only the sample and keymap information is imported. No programming parameters (LFOs, Envelopes, Filter settings, etc.) are imported, so they must be reprogrammed on the Kurzweil once the file is imported." ProfD
Mainstage should be able to import those Akai samples and export them as WAV or AIFF. Save the newly saved WAV/AIFF files to a flash drive. The K2700 should be able to load them. Of course, WAV/AIFF samples may require setting up new Programs within K2700. Autosampler might be faster option if those Akai samples are on media that can be read with the computer/laptop having a floppy drive/SCSI, CD/DVD drive or requires software to convert it. Autosampler is great because the user defines the sampling parameters and the software does the rest from triggering the MIDI notes to naming files and setting up keygroups. It's slick.😎 Quote PD "The greatest thing you'll ever learn, is just to love and be loved in return."--E. Ahbez "Nature Boy"
erik_nie
Yes, this is possible. Did it several times years ago to get some piano samples from my Yamaha digital piano in the Kurzweil, also many other samples. The mapping from the raw samples to a krz file is done using a small java application. https://kurzfiler.sourceforge.io/ Many settings and options, but in the end it is possible. I forget my workflow... 1 Quote Nord Piano 5-73, Nord Stage 3 Author of QSheets: The fastest lead sheet viewer in the world that also plays Audio Files and send Program Changes! https://qsheets.eriknie.synology.me/
ABECK
Thank you - sounds like a good option. So if I understand correctly, you used Autosampler to capture the samples and sourceforge to assemble the audio files and convert them to a krz format? erik_nie
Yes. There are many ways to collect wav files. Some free soundfonts of SFZ files have separate wav files that you can use. If you dive into the location of the wav of some mainstage/logic instruments, you can also collect the wav files. you can also set the velocity fixed and play the notes yourself, or use a midi sequence to do this. I highly recommend using the tools from Bjorn Bojahr: https://www.bjoernbojahr.de/endlesswav.html for the looping and extraction from an audio file. After a small training video you can very quickly cut and loop all samples The Kurzweil sound consists of a keymap inside a program. Kurzfiler can detect the rootkey, but this does not always work. Make sure that you create compact keymap. This saves location-numbers in the kurzweil system als alows for more sample sets (All samples are loaded into one location with multiple offsets, compared to all samples in a new location) This works on all recent kurzweil synths. Good luck! 1 Quote Nord Piano 5-73, Nord Stage 3 Author of QSheets: The fastest lead sheet viewer in the world that also plays Audio Files and send Program Changes! https://qsheets.eriknie.synology.me/
