elif
Reverb Listing It seems a little pricey to me. I bought a one in mint condtion five years ago for $2800 shipped. Is this because they are discontinued? There seem to be other good options now.
Morrissey
Nords hold their value.... and then some. I recently sold a Nord Electro 2. I paid a fair value for a used one about 6 years ago, and I just sold it for several hundred MORE than I paid back then.
Stokely
Maybe riding on the coattails of Nord's recent absurd price hike. The one that probably means I'll never own another one (I loved my electro 6, and wanted to get a stage 3 compact but that's off the table now.) And I guess I can't blame Nord if there are enough buyers for them. I'm just not willing to pay that much even if I could actually afford it. Same goes for what seems like most cars these days. Macsaint777
Nord is not hiking their prices to be greedy. Have you seen the exchange rate and import fees for Sweden? Quote I have gear. Don't we all? Some is old, some is new. Ask me what I've got and I'll tell you.
Stokely
As I say, I wouldn't really "blame" Nord even if they were greedy. They can sell their products for whatever the market will bear. Apparently in Europe you can get Nords more cheaply, going by the Thomann site a while back at least (and I had one in my cart only to learn than Nord won't let them ship to the US, other manufacturers limit this as well!) There are other options for me, for others the prices I'm sure are acceptable or Nord wouldn't do it (and/or they can just sell to non-US buyers). There are certainly people who wouldn't have considered a Stage 3 due to price before the price hikes too, so all this is subjective! stoken6
I'm surprised a used Nord organ can command that kind of money, regardless of the Swedish exchange rate. As the OP posted there's plenty of competition in that sector, in contrast to some of the other offerings that Nord has, where there's enough differentiation to keep KC in posts for year after year... Cheers, Mike.
Docbop
Nord's just adding in their increased cost in obtaining parts and that's going on with everything. They probably don't or can't warehouse huge inventories of parts like a Yamaha, Roland, Korg can, plus they are further away from sources of parts so shipping cost and travel time is worse. Yesterday the YT channel "The Music Tech Guy UK" was talking about how buying some parts from a place in the US that shipping in past was around $10 is now $65. This supply and shipping is a nightmare hitting everyone globally.

What does Nord bring to the dual-manual organ party that's missing from the others, that's worth the premium? Cheers, Mike.

Buy a Nord and Viscount or Crumar wait a few years then put them up for sale the Nord you're going to get more for the Nord and probably sell it faster. No different with cars some are known for having great resell and people will pay a bit more for them because they know get more when they trade it in or sell it. I know resell has always been part of my buying decision when buying gear.

I know resell has always been part of my buying decision when buying gear. Agreed. Like them or not, and whether or not you think other manufacturers do certain things better, they are at this point a well-established industry standard. They're a known entity, established as "what the pros use" the same way Fender and Gibson are, and unless you're a high-profile artist with a very specific need, or a specialist in one particular instrument (here's looking at you, organ trio guys), a Nord will cover your sonic bases in a way that will be acceptable to the ears of your audience, with minimal menu diving, and look cool while doing it (unless you don't like red). This is very good news for if I ever decide to sell my Electro 4D, but less good news if I'm selling that so I can upgrade it to a Stage 3 Compact. Quote Samuel B. Lupowitz Musician. Songwriter. The first thing that comes to my mind when I need to buy a keyboard is "does it sound good" or "is it high quality for the money". Something like that. Something that gets the keyboard in my hands quickly. I'll worry about its resale value much later on. 1 Quote Kurzweil PC3, Yamaha MOX8, Alesis Ion, Kawai K3M

I do see your point for the Stage and Electro ranges. They have some unique capabilities that people might pay a premium for, Cheers, Mike
Shamanzarek
Guitar Center now has a lease plan with option to buy on Nord. Sweetwater has 36 months at zero interest financing. Kraft Music has 18 month zero interest. Musician's Friend has 6 months zero interest. Sam Ash has 24 months. Full Compass where I got my S3C offers 36 months. Am I missing something about the price differences between Thomann and Sweetwater/GuitarCenter ? IF Nord would allow Thomann to ship to the USA , you could get a Nord Electro 6D almost $800 cheaper even after shipping and import duty! If Nord is increasing prices to compensate for material costs etc, why is that the case? Similarly, how is that I can get a Moog Matriarch ( made in Asheville, NC) delivered for hundreds cheaper from Germany than in the same country it’s made in?? Stokely
I didn't know about the import duty when I first looked at prices, this is true. Putting that aside (which of course I wouldn't, it could be 25% or more of the cost!), the Nord Stage 3 I saw was far cheaper than any US dealer even with shipping. I don't remember by how much because I rapidly learned I couldn't get it shipped. Since learning about the import tax, I only consider stuff under $800 (that is the cut-off Thomann mentioned where US customs levies the tax.) Also, apparently gear from China can result in long inspection periods as well, again this is what Thomann told me. Then it comes down to whether the lower Thomann prices + shipping are worth it. For the stand I bought and a pedal, I still saved a lot of money and I figured these were not things I'd need to send back or need repairs (the pedal wasn't that expensive anyway.) Not everything is way cheaper though. No idea how their prices are the way they are. I do tend to buy from Sweetwater due to their warranty policy, which I had to invoke on a six-month-old mixer not long ago. They replaced it with a new one. elif
I bought a Behringer X32 from Thomann, shipped to the US at a nice discount over a US price. The downside was that the warranty was not covered by Behringer but by Thomann.
