Dan South
American Pie - lots of visual imagery in the lyrics; a video would detract from the power of the song. Purple Haze - again, the imagery is so powerful in your mind; a video would spoil it. And, besides - "'scuse me while I kiss this guy" - Nobody wants to see THAT! The Black Knight always triumphs! coyote
I never dug the whole video concept. It implants images into your mind... in some cases I had heard music on radio and imagined something totally different from the subsequent video. I don't even like doing it with books. If I read a book I don't wanna see the screen rendition as it interferes with what I've already imagined. In at least that way, music video = mind control. The only vids I wanna see are concert footage of live performances. I guess I can make an exception for rap/hiphop vids; I mostly don't dig the 'music' but a few secs of supple bikini-clad babes shaking their assets is never a bad thing I used to think I was Libertarian. Until I saw their platform; now I know I'm no more Libertarian than I am RepubliCrat or neoCON or Liberal or Socialist. This ain't no track meet; this is football. Jimbroni
I used to watch CMT on mute while listening to Bitches Brew. Lotsa cuties on that CMT. Together all sing their different songs in union - the Uni-verse. My Current Project

coyote
Dunno. Guess they'd have to become secretaries or stockbrokers or whatever else is available... Unfortunately, image has far superceded music in importance. Ff course that's a genie that'll never be able to be put back in the bottle so we're stuck with it. Originally posted by cwfno: But if you don't have video, how would all the musically challenged but sexy body young chicks make a living? When I was too quick to give in, her anxieties grew worse. It got to the point that we were both miserable. Then I decided I had to be myself and make myself happy regardless of consequences. Since then, our relationship has improved dramatically - and she's much happier! So sometimes making her happy means holding your ground, and sticking up for your own interests. Just as long as you present it as such, and not try to make each other wrong for what after all are merely differences of opinion. I used to think I was Libertarian. Botch.
Those songs will all be in car commercials by the end of the year. Botch "Eccentric language often is symptomatic of peculiar thinking" - George Will www.puddlestone.net
AlanThomas
Yeah, with very few exceptions, music videos just suck dog balls... Even really crappy music is just made worse by a video... As for the video strumpets like Shitney Spears, there's always soft core pornography (which is pretty much what they're doing anyway). Signatures can appear at the bottom of your posts. Shars
1 that comes to mind and a dead on fav of mine is Wicked Game by Chris Isaacs...the vid was good but that song has so much atmosphere that it needs nothing to visualise it! You can almost feel the guitar work in that with the haunting lyrics. i think the vid kinda spoils it cause you have to admit, Chris isn't exactually a looker is he? www.myspace.com/yacababy

That was a typically stupid video. Here's Chris at the beach. Singing. In gainy black and white. With an ethnic hottie of unknown origin. Why it she one the beach with him? He's not paying attention to her. And those camera angles are making me seasick. The Black Knight always triumphs!
Shars
Exactually! The song needs no video at all, it brings up images in your mind as it is. www.myspace.com/yacababy
coyote
Too bad videos were not a common thing in the mid-70s. I always thought Nugent's Wang Dang Sweet Poontang would've benefitted from a video.
