The Real MC
Axel is a great guy. We worked together on the Andromeda project at Alesis. dB I bet that was fun. I've only ever seen one Andromeda... great synth. There's been variations. Prototypes looked like this: http://www.analoguediehard.com/studio/keyboards/alesis_andromeda/alesis-andromeda-prototype.jpg Alesis made a limited edition red panel model. 250 were made. http://www.analoguediehard.com/studio/keyboards/alesis_andromeda/alesis-andromeda-red-1.jpg The Aurora was a prototype panel shoehorned on a production Andromeda in a custom case. Alesis even provided a modified OS that displayed AURORA for the splash screen when it booted up. http://www.analoguediehard.com/studio/keyboards/alesis_andromeda/alesis-andromeda-aurora.jpg This is a photoshopped mockup but one of those "if only" tales... rack mounted Andromeda was planned but never got past the drawing board. http://www.analoguediehard.com/studio/keyboards/alesis_andromeda/alesis-andromeda-rack.jpg This is my personal unit, beta unit #9. I replaced the knobs with Rogans which used on Moog synths of the 1980s and late 70s. They actually feel better than the original knobs. I was working a contract job at this company and found they had a surplus of knobs they weren't using anymore, so I purchased the stock that was used here. Sharped-eyed trainspotters will notice the different color buttons. http://www.analoguediehard.com/studio/keyboards/alesis_andromeda/alesis-andromeda-glamour-1.jpg
