Simple Keyboard drum input question

Recommended Posts

I have an old stereo wave file of a 3 minute tune that only needs a back beat. I also have a little wave file of a nice snare hit. I have Wavelab and ACID 2 and just got Sonar. What's the easiest way for me to sit at my computer and play the back beat "from my keyboard" and have it be the snare that is missing? I was thinking of going into wavelab montage and hitting "marker" for each beat and then copy and pasting the sound in each (more than 80) times. Is there a program that would let me actually put in the .wav file at each keyboard stroke? Thanks for any answers!

I'm not sure you could trigger a (.wav) snare hit from a keyboard w/o a sampler. A quick way I do it is to import the .wav file into Sonar and then hit an F11 (insert marker) where the snare beats should be, then onto another track paste the snare hit where the markers are. Use the 'advance to next marker' arrow button to jump quickly to the next spot. (similar to what you said) -Matt [ 12-30-2001: Message edited by: Hippie ]
In two days, it won't matter.

Hey William, aren't you the guy who did the surround remix of one of my tunes? If so, it's good to see you here. And if it isn't you, hey, it's still always good to see a first-time poster. Anyway, try this site: http://www.bome.com/midi/keyboard/ There's a program for Windows that you can download; it lets you play notes from a mouse or MIDI keyboard. I found out about it through http://www.propellerheads.se. They also have a couple Mac utilities there that do the same thing. Good luck, let us know how it works for you.
