Twitter was a good idea when it started (epigrammatic comments& short messages) but quickly became full of pointless blather.

As to FBook, I hardly ever have visited for the past 5 yrs & then only in response to a direct message.

It's actually quite easy to not miss.

For any communication even vaguely like this forum, it would be useless since there's no separation of subject matter...is there ?

Further, it's always claimed complete ownership of anything posted there---so adios to posting original material unless y'wanna give it up.

I'm still wondering, however, why this is coming up again ???

Last year New Bay seemed to be convinced of the cost/benefit/effectiveness of these forums...is there an apparent danger now ?

Why I think few are actually reading here... :steve:

Someone decides to reactivate the Emergency Evacuation Plan Rev. 4.1 but for no particular reason...?...maybe an owl hooted in the daytime ?

"Moon came out next to the sun" ?

Well, I guess it's always good to be prepared !

Or someone coulda just pointed to this...

https://forums.musicplayer.com/ubbthreads.php/topics/2919630/Newbay_Guitar_Player_Bass_Play#Post2919630

& this

https://forums.musicplayer.com/ubbthreads.php/topics/2919524/Re_Newbay_Guitar_Player_Bass_P

..but I guess that would be sorta, I dunno, organised :pop:

& as I've learned in recent years, while forumites here can get panicky abt potential changes, there's been no effort ever made to proactively contact Molenda, the mgmt of NewBay or anyone else or to take active roles in participating in the larger modern GPlayer community outside this site when such suggestions have been made.

It appears to me that there are a number of options available just in case the new owner decided to pull the plug on the forum management.

The String Network if you are interested in a broad forum for all stringed instruments:

http://www.thestringnetwork.com/

or The Guitar and Bass forum if you want a more focused forum:

http://guitarplayersforum.boards.net/

or Guitar Player Forum Refugees if you like the Facebook format.

https://www.facebook.com/groups/123386328039007/?ref=br_rs

and I can throw in another that has a very broad appeal with sections for all type of music, film, books etc. that is music related.

For all that, I repeat that [ http://www.harmonycentral.com/ ] may be the most active & wide-ranging site, w/ a significant # of high-level pros.

TSN is cool & friendly but also not very active (which, of course would likely change w/ a significant influx of refugees).

I suggest, however, that there or anywhere else, one branch into other forums as yer interests take you rather than wait to evacuate en masse, possibly to be viewed as an invasion by those resident there.

As to this...

There is no conspiracy. No secret stuff. Just announcements and reactions that are in the "Just in case" vein. It's all good, man. It's all good.

Who suggested any of that?

I just pointed out the lack of responsiveness.

However, if there's any "conspiracy hypothesizing" it might be repeated panics over possible changes...I'll leave aside the idea that a group might take action to preclude changes rather than merely escape them.
