Dave Bryce
Not for viruses...I'm talking about something that can go through the computer, identify the unused and duplicate files as well as the ones that are left over from past migrations and get rid of them/help optimize the computer's performance. Experiences? Recommendations? dB ==> David Bryce Music • Funky Young Monks <== Professional Affiliations: Royer Labs • Music Player Network
Rally
Have you tried rebooting to Disk Utilities and explored those options? Hold Command-R while starting up (or restarting) then select Disk Utility. Once there, the First Aid tab offers selections to apply to your disk. From this area you may be able to optimize performance and 'fix' some other quirky things. It is free and at your fingertips. Good luck.
Michael Wright
I use CC Cleaner for Mac Dave, the pro (paid) version. It does delete files, so I'm careful. http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner-mac .

tfort
Not quite what you're asking for, but when I'm trying to make space on my hard drive, I always start with Omni Group's OmniDiskSweeper: https://www.omnigroup.com/more
Joe Muscara
I've used Dr. Cleaner from Trend Micro. It has lots of good App Store reviews too, which you can see at the link. zephonic
@dB: Sierra's built-in storage management tools don't do the trick? https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2016/09/macos-10-12-sierra-the-ars-technica-review/4/#h2 I used to use CleanMyMac, but found it wasn't really worth the price. local: Korg Nautilus 61 AT | Yamaha MODX8 away: GigPerformer | 16" MBP M1 Max home: Kawai RX-2 | Korg D1 | Roland Fantom X7
Steve Nathan
Not really what your looking for, but it made me think of something I heard an engineer buddy singing praises for the other day. Cleans up duplicate files well I'm told. http://www.qdea.com/synchronize_pro_x_intro.html Don't rush me.
