Need help with Hammond sk-1 dead key

Recommended Posts

I want to try to clean or replace the dead A key on my sk-1.If I hold it down a long time it will sometimes and only rarely sound.

How do I release the key from the keybed for inspection, cleaning and possible replacement?

Any thoughts or advice?I have the organ apart and don't want to force anything.

Thanks ClavAnother, you are probably right.I got the key off and couldn't find any obstructions or breakage.I hit it with canned air just in case.I reassembled and and now it will sound more frequently but still not close to playable. I wonder if the contacts are replaceable or cleanable? Not sure I should try to take the rubber boot off the contact, might just go in again with air and contact cleaner spray and hope that helps.I think I will email Hammond the question too...They are gonna say take it to the dealer for repair.

Update:Contact cleaner and canned air did the trick!
