keyskat
I want to try to clean or replace the dead A key on my sk-1.If I hold it down a long time it will sometimes and only rarely sound. How do I release the key from the keybed for inspection, cleaning and possible replacement? Any thoughts or advice?I have the organ apart and don't want to force anything. ClavAnother
Isn't that the same Fatar TP/8O keybed in the old electros? If so you lift the spring off the back and if memory serves, release a tab at the back of the key. But it sounds like you have a dirty contact, and I'm not sure how to clean them; mine have never failed.
keyskat
Thanks ClavAnother, you are probably right.I got the key off and couldn't find any obstructions or breakage.I hit it with canned air just in case.I reassembled and and now it will sound more frequently but still not close to playable. I wonder if the contacts are replaceable or cleanable? Not sure I should try to take the rubber boot off the contact, might just go in again with air and contact cleaner spray and hope that helps.I think I will email Hammond the question too...They are gonna say take it to the dealer for repair. Update:Contact cleaner and canned air did the trick!
