stoken6
Once again this forum educates me on how Erroll Garner continues the tradition of incorporating contemporary pop into the jazz canon. Cheers, Mike.
Baldwin Funster
If by contemporary you mean probably about 20 year old pop at the time of release then yeah. FunMachine.
JohnnyB3
Anything by Erroll Garner will never be off topic in this forum! And it actually was contemporary in that this was originally released in 1974 - four years after the song came out in 1970.

JohnnyB3
...and I should add that the track sounds as fresh (contemporary) as the day it was laid down; the ultimate litmus test for greatness.
Baldwin Funster
How come no one is doing jazz piano adaptations of mettalica today? Or snoop? FunMachine.
bfields
How come no one is doing jazz piano adaptations of mettalica today? Or snoop? It's almost as though you've never noticed the "search" function on youtube. (Amusing party game: try to find an (instrument, song) pair such that both the instrument and the song are very popular but nobody has yet posted a youtube video of the song played on that instrument. For extra difficulty, make the instrument ukelele or the song the Super Mario Bros theme. Genre could work as well as instrument. OK, maybe this is why nobody comes to my parties....) Joe Muscara
How come no one is doing jazz piano adaptations of mettalica today? Or snoop? Everybody does Creep by Radiohead and Smells Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana. Some of these choices are actually getting to be pretty old IMNSHO. "I'm so crazy, I don't know this is impossible!
