Doerfler
can't go wrong with an H9. Mf-104M is discontinued and what is available are very expensive. I would try what you have and see if you like it (you should) before looking at something else.

NewImprov
I use an MXR Phase 100 and a TC Flasback delay on my Mini, and love the sound. Kids nda lusting after the H9, though. Hoochie
Anybody using the El Capistan? Or the T Rex? My biggest concern is hitting inputs too hard and getting the bad kind of distortion. I just checked the h9. It has preamp gains that are adjustable before it hits the AD. That's likely not a common thing. I wonder if there is a preamp that's small that can handle a hot input and in turn spit the signal out at normal levels. I seem to remember a whirlwind thing. Or maybe a Jensen DI. I'm probably over thinking this. John

Hoochie
A.C., That Chandler pedal sounds really nice. Dare I run it back in for some over the top madness? I can't remember what I had at the time. Probably a Digitech rack delay with no presets. Might have been the Echoplex. Man those were expensive beasts. New &Improv, I'll check out the phase 100 and the delay. I may just end up with an h9 core and call it done. But it can sound too pretty. hardware
Get a used TC Fireworx on ebay for 300 USD. Save a fortune and it does whatever a keyboard synth player needs. Magnus C350 + FMR RNP + Realistic Unisphere Mic
MAJUSCULE
I agree with Dave that the H9 is hella powerful and you should probably take some time with both in the same room and see if that's good enough for you. Otherwise, I know a dude who runs his Sub 37 through Strymon Dig and Blue Sky. Eric Website Gear page
Hoochie
That TC Fireworx is nuts. The display example almost looks like a pc3 algorithm. I will check it out. Eric, Love the Strymon stuff. One of the few effects brands that are instruments in themselves. I almost got the Big Sky and went for the flexibility of the Eventide instead. Food for thought. DavidD
Speaking of the Echoplex. I run my Sub37 through a Xotic EP Booster (on the vintage setting) and a Strymon Timeline. With the Strymon's Tape Delay setting it gets really close to the original - and it's both cheaper than the original and more manageable to tour with. Furthermore the Timeline has all of the other bells and whistles, different delay modes etc. By far my favorite and the most inspiring pedal on my board. Dunno if it can handle the hot output from a Minimoog, but I'm pretty sure it won't be a problem. David Dyrholm - Copenhagen. Tusker
Delay is obvious but is the Mooger Fooger it. It is for me. The MF 104 is available in the used market and it does give you a combination of that grit and delay in one package. However your H9 goes a lot of places that the Moog pedal won't. You may find some of those places too pretty. Tone is personal. Why not give the H9 a chance to bond with the Mini, first? If they don't hit it off, I would look for an analog delay with BBD or tape (Moog, Strymon, Fulltone) because maybe that is where your heart is at. Congratulations on the mini. bob_sd
Oh man I am having a hell of a time deciding between an H9 vs Deco to add to my Sub37 signal chain. I've currently got a Zoom CDR 70 which is incredibly awesome for what it does, but I find the magic pixie dust the Deco sprinkles on the keys to be nothing short of magic. But then the H9 beast has the opportunity to replace the need for the CDR70 and provide enough killer algorithms that I probably won't even begin to miss the Decp, pixy dust or not. Thoughts? Hoochie
The H9 has its own blend of dust. Different recipe with more complex flavors that really do unfold as you play. Or bloom. Also depends on what food you feed it. Wait, now I'm sniffing corks. But you get the idea. It's the kind of pedal that is its own instrument. It transforms guitar completely. Same thing with clav's. I use the an LFO Wah/filter for the Beatles Birthday piano. Spot on. And I mean just like the record. John Peterson
Hoochie
Just saw this in the GS mega thread. Amidst the din of mangled minutiae there is beauty. And great use of effects. Some I have not heard of. This one took me somewhere too. Georgeous tone. And fluid playing. Catch the scratchy switch/pot in there too. That's a good reason to get a new one. Anyway I digress. Thanks everyone. John Edited for spelling
Al Coda
A.C., That Chandler pedal sounds really nice. I don´t use the pedal version, I´m using a slightly modified rackmount version (see former post). The rackmount version offers "instrument" and "line" I/Os. The "line" I/Os are what I need w/ my Minimoog D since it´s modded to offer 2 hi-level outputs instead of the stock hi-level/low-level output combo. Dare I run it back in for some over the top madness? I run one of my Minimoog outputs back into the audio input. I remember I tried inserting other FX units in that path, but found that not very effective. Matter of taste and selection/availablility of FX at that time maybe. OTOH, all experimentation is allowed ... A.C.
Dave Weiser
I'd go quick and dirty: get an old Tube Screamer an analog delay and a Crybaby, you'll be plinking/shredding/wanking for hours! https://www.theboywhowantedtorock.com http://www.weisersound.com https://www.facebook.com/weisersound
Hoochie
Dave, Crybaby is on my list. I could swear I've got one but I can't find it. The stage 2, even though it has the ability, sounds beafier doing a filter sweep with the wah rather than the filter. You know those old original Tube Screamers are over $400 last time I checked. But yea. Good idea. I wish there was a small light guitar amp that could get fender tone like the old BassMasters Or even a twin. John
Doerfler
I wish there was a small light guitar amp that could get fender tone like the old BassMasters Or even a twin. Nothing like a Twin Reverb. I love mine. My Minimoog Voyager sounds much better to my ears through my Twin. Fat tube goodness.
