jeremy c
A student of mine who has extensive piano background was having a little trouble learning the note names on the bass fretboard. Her solution was to paint her bass so that all the sharp and flat notes were black and the rest of the notes were white. Here is the finished project: http://jeremycohenbass.com/images/pianobass.small.JPG Free download of my cd!.
Bottom End
Very clever idea, and it looks pretty cool. Now if I could just get piano keys to look like frets... "Call me what instrument you will, though you can fret me, yet you cannot play upon me.'-Hamlet Guitar solos last 30 seconds, the bass line lasts for the whole song. EddiePlaysBass
I wonder if it would help me, or throw me off completely. Either way I am tempted to give it a go myself, if for no other reason than the sheer looks of it "I'm a work in progress." SteveC
It's an interesting take - not surprising coming from a pianist. I think it would really mess me up. Not because of the "coding" but just the "blotchiness" of the pattern.
jeremy c
Just play all the white frets and you are playing in C major or D dorian. Free download of my cd!.

Flemtone
Makes perfect sense to me. Looks very cool as well. Play. Just play.
zeronyne
Seems like a good way to get started, but it may eventually hamper her. The beauty of a stringed instrument is the portable chord shapes, which may be hard to conceptualize with this color scheme. "For instance" is not proof.
