becoming53 Posted October 19, 2015 Share Posted October 19, 2015 Hi all, looking for some help in learning this disco-type tune for my new covers band. Anyone ever played it before? I need a clue on how to replicate the string "stabs / falls / slides / whatevers" in the intro and the chorus (e.g. bar 2 beats 2, 3 and 4). Any suggestions? Pitch bend / Portamento / something else? Lindaru Posted October 19, 2015 Share Posted October 19, 2015 Hi, Becoming . . . I have never played this particular tune before, but I have played similar and I use pitch bend to replicate that. It appears he has a pitch bend wheel on the left he is using (my E-16 only has buttons, but does the same thing in limited capacity). Pressure when hitting and letting off the keys plays into the style as well. When playing funk, I tend to hit that lower note in the chord quick and immediately jump to the next (sort of like funk bass but for keys harmony or melody). I am sure the more experienced of our group here will be along shortly to guide you better than I can. Great song by the way! I may have to learn that one just for the fun of it.
