Jazz+
Here is an example where the Miles Davis group plays an 8 bar intro vamp on A Phrygian. There is an A bass line riff and the piano chord is voiced from the bottom up as : F A Bb E. It was recorded in 1956 with Red Garland on piano, not a pianist associated with the Phrygian playing...("Kind of Blue" was 1959). I guess Miles Davis told Garland what chord to play. There is also a C7sus vamp at the end. This almost 10 years before Maiden Voyage. Lennie Tristano was doing this sort of thing 5 years earlier. I-missRichardTee
I learn things about music on this site.. thanks for that educational point.. I never put 2 and 2 together with that sound that bass and Red Garland were making. Thanks You don't have ideas, ideas have you We see the world, not as it is, but as we are.
