Any good apps and gear I should be considering?

Alesis has the iO as an interfaceand they offer some basic recording apps like Garageband and portastudio are on the SW site

Please help me decide.

Ideally - I'd like to be able to record acoustic instruments and voice as well as keys and my basses.

thanks

and this prompted me to post a correction there...

Maybe this is the best place for a shameless plug! Our now not-so-new new video at https://youtu.be/3ZRC3b4p4EI is a 40 minute adaptation of T. S. Eliot's "Prufrock" - check it out! And hopefully I'll have something new here this year. ;-)

The Apple IPad 2 Smart Cover makes the device sleep when you close it, and wakes it up when you open it:

There may be other covers with the same magnet placement, but I have other covers which don't do that. When using them I have to remember to put the device to sleep. Sometimes I forget and I have a low battery.

Anecdotally I've heard people without smart covers complain about the 10 hour battery life, but the ones with the smart covers rarely do.
