Phil W
Sad. Such a terrific drummer and musician...creative right through his life. He didn't sit back on his achievements but formed new bands with creative line-ups right into his later years. The Electric Bebop Band was something! Here's a great trio performance [video:youtube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AdO6rkSSdgA At the Village Vanguard with Scott and Bill redefining a jazz rhythm section... Nicklab
Paul Motian's work with the Bill Evans trio alone was brilliant. Those are some of my favorite Jazz records ever. Mark Schmieder
I've already made my statement on the Keyboard forum, but will just add here that it was the rhythm section of Motian and Haden that really fired me up in the 70's to want to become a jazz player.
