I love the sound of Ibanez basses and they finally came out with a model with a normal neck -- not one that feels like a yardstick. The problem is, it's the "Grooveline" series and it's probably the stupidest looking, ugliest looking thing I've even seen. And they usually have the nicest, coolest shaped bodies.

Why????

Ooooh....I see what you mean. That looks like it was left in a hot car and melted a bit. Either that or it could use some Viagra.

Have you tried the prestige series? Still a Soundgear-ish kind of neck but felt pretty good to me. Looks way better than that Grooveline series also in my opinion.

As a matter of fact I have, and honestly, I think the SR500 sounds just as good and plays every bit as well -- and is $1000 less. : )

Ibanez ATK200

Here's an Ibanez with a nice big neck at a good price.

The poor man's Stingray.

Yeah, I can;t seem to track one of those down. It has bartolini's? The bridge is a little obnoxious though, isn't it?

i like it. it has a mushroomy, cartoony feel to it. the persistence of ibanez bass? i have come very close, a couple times, to buying a BTB. the neck is asymmetrical, which is considerably better than the typical ibanez neck. it's not ideal, but it's improved.

I played a buddy's ATK 5-string- outside of being a little heavy (and needing a good setup), it sounded sweet and played real well. It's one of the few Ibanez I have played that I like

I like Ibanez, generally. I had an SR505, one of the few basses I regret getting rid of. I traded it in on a Stingray 5 that I wound up not liking as much as the Ibanez.

That Stingray sure was pretty though. Learned a good lesson about buying with my eyes.

Never been a fan of the Soundgear series. The necks are too thin.
