TuskBuffer
So I was also thinking, why did we start playing guitar in the first place? What was the very first spark in our imagination that led us down this path, the fundamental reason behind our ambition? Was it because we really had an interest in scales? We thought our fingers would look better with callouses? We wanted to spend thousands of dollars over our lifetimes for musical equipment? I say HECK NO! IT WAS TO PICK UP CHICKS!!!!! Well, I guess I answered my original question up at the top, didn't I? dvuksanovich
Guitar was never the chick magnet it was cracked up to be... for me anyway. Maybe I shouldn't blame the guitar though... maybe I was just a tool.
whitefang
When I played guitar in a band, girls used to approach me all the time! Usually asking, "Does the drummer have a girlfriend?" Whitefang I started out with NOTHING...and I still have most of it left!

skipclone 1
I have had, on a number of occasions, girls come up to me and say "I liked your singing". I could say something sarcastic or get indignant, but what's the point. That is not going to change. Play for those who appreciate it, screw the rest. p90jr
I've always found that women liked my guitar playing, but usually were more attracted by my bass playing... there's something about women and bass playing, I think they respect the support role that it plays or something and they appreciate that it isn't the obvious attention seeking spot that guitarist and singers usually occupy. I started playing guitar - or wanted to start playing guitar - because it's a portable song machine and I loved songs. Still to this day I pick up a guitar and play and sing the songs I want to hear just as much as I cue them up on the stereo or computer. My tastes in music is song-oriented for the most part, not a fan of the shred olympics or whatever... Girls always liked that I could play some song they liked, and sing it to them. I can't say - other than the women I've dated who were players themselves - that they ever gave a crap about soloing, really... maybe the way I performed it but not the actual playing, just making a bunch of noise impressed them just as much as some nuanced solo. picker
Yeah, I've noticed the chicks go for bass players a lot, too, and sometimes, they don't even have to be very good looking. I wonder why that is? Always remember that you are unique. Just like everyone else.
Eric Iverson
I somehow managed to marry a nice-looking wife 23 years ago, but it wasn't BECAUSE of my guitar playing - more like IN SPITE of it! But then I took up mandolin and flute, and now she likes to hear me practice guitar, LOL! Maybe I should take up the trumpet.... I have one laying around the house... then she might like to hear me practice mando and flute.
SEHpicker
Just exactly what attracts chicks to a certain band member is a curious thing. The front guy in my band is a chick magnet. He's 60 yrs old, in great shape and pretty good looking. Other than that I can't figure out what the big deal is. When we play out young women are always asking me if "HE" is available. Course I've been married 30 yrs to a beautiful woman so I'm not interested in chasing anything but it would be nice to get hit on once in a while.LOL!
