Gabriel E.
Been a long time. I just got this lap steel that I won on ebay. For the same price, I could have bought a plywood guitar built by a 14-year-old kid in an Asian sweatshop. Instead, I got a new handcrafted guitar built by a guy in Quebec named Tremblay. Super simple but it works. Now I just need to learn how to play in C6!! http://photos-f.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash1/hs453.ash1/24940_1266728586704_1184473646_30695485_6189259_n.jpg "You never can vouch for your own consciousness." - Norman Mailer
simpleman3441
I'm jealous. Ever since I watched David Gilmour live at Albert Hall again recently, I've been wanting one. I on the other hand did get a Squier Strat yesterday. It's an Affinity series that doesn't play badly at all (not great though). I've been needing a practice guitar to leave at my girls house for when she's getting ready and whatnot! If I had the choice though, I'd have chosen yours. I think that's the same phone we have at work, though... Gabriel E.
I got it because I'm going on a trip and want something to take on the plane. I was looking at travel guitars and they all sucked or were too much $$. Then I thought about getting a lap steel and GAS hit. Caevan O’Shite
Cool. That's some chunka wood in yer lap there, Gabes! Ya got a big, heavy steel to play that with? One with a handle-like top onnitt? What gauges of strings izzitt runnin', and what's its scale-length? What's the story on that big honkin' black doublewide soapbar? Hey, what's your C6 tuning, lo-to-hi? Larryz
very nice looking violin-like design and signed inlays, hope she sounds nice and the C6 tuning should give it a sweet steel guitar sound...let us know how it sounds plugged in... Take care, Larryz
Gabriel E.
Here are the specs: Scale Length: 550mm / 21.65" Body: Oil finished Basswood Neck: Oil finished Birch, Mahogany and Torrefied Maple Nut: Aluminium (2.146" string spread) Bridge: Aluminium (2.146" string spread) Tuners: Open-gear 14:1 Pickup: Custom hand wound single coil Controls: Volume & tone Strings: .014 .017 .020 .024w .030w .036w C6 tuning The "inlays" are just silk screened onto the vinyl fretboard (as are the fret markers). It's a budget axe for sure but is very well made. Just really simple. The PU is a P-90 variant of some kind. Sounds nice and clear with a rich midrange. I have it tuned to standard C6 - CEGACE (low to high) and use a generic Dunlop tone bar (14 oz. I think). No Stevens bar for me.
